Jaime Speed
I won’t linger on, I’ll be getting around
to embrace returning with wings or fins, yips or snaps
though I’ve never wanted to be anything
but the seas, a jaw full of turtles and bays
rounding off the jagged spaces
that curve and crave
create when they meet at last, gripping
like lovers might’ve, a body
bookended by sand and sky, sometimes
cold and choppy
always abundant in home and psalm
a giant heart to hold
in a palm that keeps clenching
