My Heart Is
Dan Tricarico

a silent, praying monk
in the night. He sips wine
under the harvest moon
and reminisces about lost love.
when the owl howls
he giggles softly to himself,
draws the cup up
to his mouth again.
if only I could sing in tune
with my brothers, he thinks,
or make a decent pot of tea,
I would be complete.
