What if you don’t use body lotion?
Like choosing bedsheets of raw wool.
Like violating the truce hammered out
by kink and desire, a battle raged
since I came out then raced inside.
What if you are performative in bed.
It’s taken years to understand that word
and a tip into the century to use.
If only you applied yourself like you apply
eyeshadow misted tawny;
dewy as a simple soul. Or, if inclined,
a languid metallic smudged.
A shimmy shivering on sprung moss.
You don’t know until you know.
It takes it out of one, to become fortunate.
Is there anything better than skin?
