The Gravedigger’s Workplace
Robert S. King

The graveyard is a pretty place to work.
The remembered dead have flowers
and manicured grass and gravel.

But the forgotten get in my eyes too.
Only weeds bloom on unraked soil.
Weather erodes their names,
lost to all but those
whose hands are dirty
from working with the dead.
