Trading My Abyss for Yours

Let me have your abyss.

There’s something to be said
for the abyss you cultivated your whole life,
best to fall down something familiar
than jumping off someone else’s edge.
I want my moment in mid-air when the perfect last line
comes, and splat! . . . before I can be published,
but I will not rule out a last minute resurrection,
God choosing my poem for His anthology.
